All you people preaching too little/much thermal grease get the other stuff he did in the video correct then you can lecture him all you want!!

Top notch video man! I don't even know how you got the mobo/processor schematics…but really superb video. What a way to sticking it to Intel man!!

Overclockers normally use tons of thermal paste. It does not hurt anything. Anyone notice, it seems the board is covered in vaseline.

Never knew colgate could be used as thermal compound. But was a whole tube necessary?

I'm amazed that the computer hasn't fried on power. So much crap everywhere.

Next time better use Cheeze Whiz as TP instead.

Question, I have Gigabyte B250 HD3P and I was running i5 7600 without any problems, now when I bought i7 8700k, it won't power up. Is the board even compatible?

Hi dude
First of all,great work !
İ Have the Asus Z270-A Prime, do you think the Board is Mod-able? The Z270-A Prime comes with 10 Phase (Voltage) Controllers around the socket. İt looks very simular to the Z370-A Prime wich comes with the same amount of Phase (Voltage) Controllers, maybe its an different Controller, that is something i need to check. The Z370-A Prime supports CPU's from i3-8100 up to I9-9900K Any suggestions? Thx a lot 😉
Do you have HT enabled?

Horrible application of thermal paste and horrible thermal paste itself. C'mon man. You go to the lengths to figure out how to get Coffee Lake to work on z170 and then you go and do this with the thermal paste. /fp

I was going to comment on the thermal paste. Seems everyone else beat me to it.
FFS mate you dont need your motherboard to look likes its nappy has failed. It is only there to even out the 2 surfaces to get the best contact area. You only need a thin amount.

@Luumi What happens if the short breaks? System just shut down, or will the chip be broken permanently? I presume the silver paint have som less then ideal properties long term (?).
