Is it possible to select some plugins, and just update selected?
Hey Paul.. I too use MainWP. For yourself and others that use it, here is something that will speed up your management and updating many sites faster: use symlinks for all of your plugins and themes used. No need to have multiple copies of the same plugins throughout all child sites, just ONE central folder! Need to fix a simple issue in a plugin? fix it once at one location.. done for all childs. Need to make a css change in a theme? done once and fixed for all childs using that theme.
Google search WordPress plugins themes symlink
I am curious about security. Can MainWP scan sites automatically on schedule (daily) externally and detect if a site has been compromised? I ask because apparently ManageWP does this via Sucuri. So whatever happens to any kind of locally installed security plugin if a site gets hacked doesnt matter since the scans will run just fine anyway and see that the site is compromised. If I need the plugin to tell me that I can´t be really confident since bugs can occur in the actual locally installed security plugin any time of the week. From what I read on the mainwp website sucuri needs to be started manually and that puts more stress on me to always remember to check sites manually.
great job
Hi Paul, great video!!!!!!!!! Fantastic
How does this compare with ManageWP? Can you use the one dashboard to login to all your websites avoiding the customary spreadsheet full of Logins/passwords?
Sir can you teach us how to use woocommerce API manager, how to manage our software and plugins how to update themes and plugin to client wordpress dashboard, many thanks
Hi, I followed your video from the beginning and wanted to ask, each plugin has a different login page, how to create a website with one login page but has a different plugin, or more specifically one login page for one site
Thanks for the video and for all tutorials you have done!
My main concern for these kind of plugins is security of the child sites since we open one more way to administer the sites. If there were only some way to setup firewall rules on the client servers to allow access to MainWP only from certain IPs.
Great video! I set up MainWP on a localhost site under Laragon over a year ago, but have not been using it.
I did not see any way in your video to check the age and changes in plugin updates. This is something I do manually on sites as I update them. I generally avoid updates that are less than 1 day old (I saw that the auto update did the same) and also look at what the changes are in the changelog before updating. Can that be done from MainWP? On the site itself it's quite easy, just click on "view details". I guess an alternative would be to have wordpress.org open and go to each plugin's page to see the details, but that seems convoluted.
Any thoughts on doing this through MainWP?
Having a few probs adding a local site, using flywheel – been at it awhile now so wil come back and let u know how and if I get on, cheers as still quite newish to WP – as scripted with HTML CSS before :/
Haven't heard of this plugin until now. Just set it up and it makes managing my sites a breeze. I am really grateful for these videos, thanks Paul!
Great tutorial, Paul. Thank You! I always learn something new by watching your videos,
Second question from a disappointed ManageWP user, does MainWP have a way of serving up site reports to send to my clients?
Is there a way to customize the UI for the MainWP dashboard?
Another great video – Thank You !!!!
Hi Paul.. I had mainwp installed on a host and found it realllyyyy slow and frustrating…. it was so bad I stopped using it but then I tried it locally and it was super fast to do things and I started using it again 🙂 thanks for the tutorial always handy!
Hi Paul been using for a while but learned loads I didn’t know from your video. Since you posted the Remote feature has been deleted from the free version of the MainWp you need to do this on each child site now
Thank you for this thorough video explanation. Very useful. Cheers.
Fantastic, a reference tutorial. Been using MainWP for a long time (didn't even recognize the new set-up "walk through").
Thanks Paul!
Hello! Thank you very much for sharing this video, I am sure many people will find it extremely useful! I actually started using it about a week ago and went through everything you've covered here. So I jumped through your timeline to make sure I didn't miss anything interesting, it looks like I did not. The question is whether it's worth buying Pro versions of WPVivid and MainWP? I currently use All in one WP Migration plugin (purchased many rather pricy extensions for it) but they're not supported by MainWP which is a shame (and they do not have incremental backups as well). What are you recommending/using for clients? Thank you!
awesome
Awesommmeeee!!! Will you add the premium addons?
Thanks Paul. I love MainWP. Using it a lot. Very powerful in my opinion. If you are an agency, you definitely need this to manage WordPress sites!
