One of the most requested reviews on this channel is finally here. It’s the Chinese x58 motherboard!
But first… What am I drinking???
Tonight we have the Steel Bridge Porter from Widmer Brothers (Portland, OR). Honestly, this is likely the first beer I’ve had on an episode that I didn’t particularly like. The coffee almost had a burnt roast taste, and just wasn’t doing it for me this night.
I ordered this nameless x58 motherboard on eBay for $103, and delivery took nearly 4 weeks. So I decided to test it with the best CPU available for the platform, so I sourced an x5690 from eBay for $125. 8GB of DDR3 ECC 1866MHz memory finish this out.
Rather than testing the board as a standalone option, I wasnted to know if buying this made sense in 2018, so we’re testing it against a modern AMD Ryzen 5 2400G, with 8GB of DDR4 3000MHz, and an MSI Gaming Pro B350M motherboard.
The results were… surprising.
In today’s video:
AMD Ryzen 5 2400G:
MSI B350m Gaming Pro:
G.SKILL Ripjaws V 8GB 3000MHz kit:
DEEPCOOL BARONKASE LIQUID:
EVGA GTX 1080 FTW 8GB:

i bought 2 of those x58 black boards both not powering what power supply are recommended is it switching ?
This mb can overclocking cpu?
I still use x58 systems for photo/video editing and no issues so far even using a RX 580 or RX 560 with it 🙂
So, on the off chance I get 17 free Nehelem Apple Xservers (dual quadcores), think it would be worth my effort to take out the usable components and make entry level gaming PCs out of said components?
I don't think it's fair to compare a Xeon to a normal CPU. The most important thing is that the price difference is HUGE. That alone should make you decide whether a Xeon is worth using for games. Paying $159 LESS for ~20 FPS drop, is it worth it? That's what I would have wanted to know anyway from this vid.
Help i want to update my pc biaos for a chinese motherboard koloe x58 where can i find its biaos update? pls help
You cant talk about x58 without overclocking 😀
Try to review a huananzhi, atermite, killsre, jingsha x99 Motherboard uwu nice video
Can you overclock the Xeon with this Mainboard?
Will a consumer grade processor from the Core series work with it?
how to instal driver
and you didn't even overclock it
Where do you get the ethernet drivers for this board?
I live in Brazil, and this board and a CPU have less than half the price of an actual CPU…
I think i will try one.
I tried and bought the same one. x58 koloe and used a x5680. Changed the bios version to 2.0, IDE to Compatible, it runs perfectly. Downside, I can't seem to go pass 8gb ram running at 1333mhz. Cheap motherboard for the processor.
Its atx or Micro atx??
Can we adjust the BCLK or Multipliers with this motherboard?
Do you have a bios for this motherboard?
Do u know where to find a bios for that model?
I think you should try this comparison again, but with a board that is triple channel capable.
50 bucks as year 2019, THANK YOU CHINESE INDUSTRY, we need more videos like this, i need more videos like this.
"cHineSe MotHeRbOard" lol most PC manufacturers are from china.
Probably LGA2011/X79 processors make sense if at all due to the many lanes and the M.2 (NVMe) connection.
If ECC is really supported is questionable (ZFS/FreeNAS).
The LGA1366/x58 are simply too weak of the IPC values and generally one is better off with B75/Sandy/Ivy… because the advantages of the "server" processor are no longer available. Overclocking only works on expensive motherboards, a used Ryzen V1 makes more sense out of price and performance.
thats it Im building one of these with a refurbished x5650 for 20$. These things are just to cool. I have tons of laptop ddr3 so Im gonna try and get some adapters off of ebay for 3$ each and try it out x) This should be fun. Im guessing Im gonna have lots of problems.
Does anyone have a manual for this board?
Im currently trying to put it together but im having trouble with the front panel part
As always…your Jeff?
ai có thể cho tôi bản mod BIOS cho motherbroad x58 này không ?
